Driveways: Pavers, Concrete or Asphalt?

stone vs. sand

Pavers are a beautiful and environmentally friendly option for your driveway. They allow water to pass into the ground, thus minimizing runoff and erosion problems, and they don’t require sealing like asphalt.

We install our pavers on 4″ of #21A bluestone, topped with gravel dust. Others use sand, which in time will be moved around by ants, which will cause uneven settling … Sand also provides a better foot hold for weeds to get started. We install our pavers on 4″ of #55 bluestone, topped with gravel dust.
